On the 10th of October, 2019, a group of students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Community Health Nursing Department visited the Tema port for an educational tour. Staff of the port explained the mission, vision, mandate and functions of Port Health to the students. The measures put in place to prevent the spread of diseases across countries were discussed.

The health official explained that captains use different flag colours or light signals in communicating with port health officials when ships berth. The students had the opportunity to visit various sections of a ship such as the ship hospital, crew cabin and bridge during the educational tour.
