INTERACTION WITH NURSING LEADERS – AFRICAN REGENT HOTEL, ACCRA (18TH FEBRUARY, 2019)

The Research team from the Centre for Health Policy, School of Public Health at the University of Witwatersrand collaborating with the Professor Lydia Aziato, School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Ghana had interactions with the nursing leaders of Ghana on the 18th February, 2019 at the African Regent Hotel Accra. The meeting was organized for the research team working on the topic, “A Comparative Analysis of Institutional Arrangements, Functioning and Effectiveness of Nursing Governance Structures in Ghana and South Africa: Implications for Universal Health Coverage” to interact with the nursing leaders with the purpose of understanding nursing leadership and governance in Ghana.

Present at the leaders engagement were the Director for Nursing and Midwifery, Ghana Health Service (GHS); the President of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA); the Rector, Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM); President of Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM), President of the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHETI), The Research Team (Professor Laetitia Rispel, Dr. Christmal Dela Christmals and Dr. Prudence Ditlopo),  from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesberg, South Africa; and Professor Lydia Aziato, the Ag. Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Ghana, Legon. In attendance also was Dr. Sue Armstrong from the Department of Nursing Education, University of Witwatersrand.
