Day 1 of UGHANMSA's 38th Health Week Celebration: GOSPEL ROCK SHOW

UGHANMSA's 38th Health Week celebration  was dubbed: “Preventing hepatitis B infections in Ghana, the role of the student and graduate nurse”. This commenced successfully on Sunday, March 24, 2019. According to the Bible, from Proverbs 16:3, “commit to the Lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans”. The Week Celebration was dully committed into the hands of the living God through remarkable, soul touching, inspiring and a breakthrough Gospel Rock Show.  The event was a collaboration between UGHANMSA and Nurses Christian Fellowship (NCF) of the University of Ghana chapter. NCF! “the hands that care”.

At about 7:00 pm, decently dressed, gorgeous and angelic looking nursing students and others gathered  to praise, honour and adore the living God at the basement of the University of Ghana Central Cafeteria. Opening prayer was said by Miss Cynthia Akua Sakyi. The NCF “Akapella”  group thrilled the house with their free style soul touching song entitled “Welcome, Wuezolo, Akwaaba”. Such an electrifying and a true indication that the night was ordained to be an awesome one. Forty minutes after the commencement, Minister Sena took the stage and brought in the presence of God through his ministration. Scores of the crowd could see kneeling and lying prostrate on the floor throughout his time on the stage.  Minister Prince Nyamebea, a fine gentleman with a silky voice had totally refreshing performance.

Landlords and landladies of the event, NCF Akapella choir upon popular request came back to usher in their own most loving father and lecturer, Rev. Alexander Attiogbe to deliver the word of God. Rev. Attiogbe carved his brief but most powerful and suitable word of caution to his audience from Eclesiastes 12:1 which admonishes mankind to remember thy creator now, in the days of thy youth. The Greater Accra Regional President of NCF, was full of praises and words of encouragement to the congregation most especially the University of Ghana branch of NCF when he took the stage to address the congregation.

The students could not hold back but to sing along even with tears of joy when one of their own, Huldah Dellor, the Immediate past Vice President of NCF, UG started ministering the smooth  and cool gospel rhythms with her soft, silky and angelic voice. Her performance kind of programmed the congregants’ mood and participation for Minister Samuel’s ministration.

All too soon, the moment to draw the curtains down came immediately after the wonderful and spectacular performance by Minister Kwame, the man who wins souls for God through his songs. The President of UGHANMSA, H. E Caesar Kaba Kogoziga, was invited to give the closing remarks and thank the congregation for participating in the program. He especially thanked the artist for making time off their busy schedule to offer their services to God.

After the closing prayer, as students and energetic people who want to heartily honour God now that they are young, the congregants dance acrobatically and skillfully to irresistible music brewed by the instrumentalists for the event until the whole floor became wet and slippery from their dancing sweat.

It all came to a final close at about 9:45pm on a good and inspiring mood. Students retired to their various halls of residence with beams, feeling relieved and blessed, and hopeful for a fruitful health week celebration. It was indeed and night to remember.
